Landfils in Russia are reminded of the ban on the landfiling of resource-valuable waste.

In January this year, a ban on the disposal of certain types of waste entered into force in Russia.

In particular, since January 1, 2019, landfiling at the MSW landfills is prohibited for:

  • paper
  • cardboard
  • paper packaging
  • tires and tires
  • polyethylene and polyethylene packaging
  • glass and glass packaging.

The list of prohibited for disposal types of production and consumption wastes, which include useful components, was approved by Order of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 1589-p dated July 25, 2017 in accordance with art. 12 of the Federal Law No. 89-FZ of 06.24.1998 “On Production and Consumption Wastes”.

In some regions, however, this prohibition is not very strictly enforced.

In particular, the Interregional Office of Rosprirodnadzor in the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol officially issued a warning to all polygons of the TKO in the Republic of Crimea on the inadmissibility of violating mandatory requirements.
