To popularize separate waste collection, the first "Ecopoints" were opened in March this year with the participation of the Governor of the Moscow region Andrey Vorobyov, 91 "Ecopoints" have already been installed on the territory of the Moscow region, the press service of the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services of the Moscow region reports.
"On behalf of the governor of the Moscow region Andrey Vorobyov, this year we plan to install 900 "Ecopoints" in the region. Thanks to the active participation of residents of the region, more than 4.3 million tons of waste have already been sent for recycling. Today there are 10 high-tech waste recycling complexes operating in the Moscow region. The work of new enterprises is carried out as part of the creation of an integrated waste management system, which is one of the main goals of the national Ecology project," said Anton Velikhovsky, Minister of Housing and Communal Services of the Moscow Region.
Ecopoint is an automatic machine for receiving plastic bottles and aluminum cans, which allows not only to collect secondary raw materials and send them for processing, but also to receive points that can be spent in fast food stores or restaurants. Points are awarded for a unit of delivered containers. Each "Ecopoint" accommodates an average of 275 - 300 units of containers, if the device is without a press, or 550 - 600 units of containers in a device with a press, the amount depends on the litre of the collected containers. The devices can work in any weather conditions, both in winter and in summer. 900 "Ecopoints" per year will be able to accept up to 56 million bottles and cans directly for processing. Recyclables in "Ecopoints" are already clean and do not need additional sorting. As the devices are filled, the accumulated cans and bottles are taken out, pressed into briquettes and sent for processing.
Plastic bottles are used to produce, for example, pens, bottles, clothes, shoes and much more, and aluminum cans are used for furniture, car parts, aircraft parts, new cans, windows, radiators, etc.
The program for the installation of "Ecopoints" in the Moscow region will be implemented from 2021 to 2024. During this period, 5 thousand "Eco-points" will be installed in schools, parks and squares, on boulevards, embankments, playgrounds, stadiums, shopping centers, residential quarters and administrative buildings.
In order to instill in children the right attitude to the environment, "Eco-points" were established in 50 schools in Dolgoprudny, Domodedovo, Korolev, Krasnogorsk, Khimki, Mytishchi, Balashikha, and Podolsk. During the operation of the "Ecopoints" in schools established by RT-Invest, students handed over 41.4 thousand plastic bottles and 13.2 thousand aluminum cans. At the end of the year, the children will be awarded prizes that will be received by the students who have passed the most containers.
"It is very important to instill healthy habits in a child from childhood. Schoolchildren approach the delivery of containers to the "Ecopoint" with interest. I am glad that the students share their impressions with each other, take an adult approach to environmental issues and make a significant contribution to the clean suburbs. We will continue to continue environmental education in the region, and establish "Eco-points" in all districts of the Moscow region," Velikhovsky said.
The following schools scored the highest number of points: MBOU Secondary School No. 29 Khimki city (4555 plastic bottles and 3024 aluminum cans were collected), MAOU Domodedovo Secondary School No. 8 (2441 plastic bottles and 1238 aluminum cans), MBOU Gymnasium No. 1 Mytishchi city (2712 plastic bottles and 854 aluminum cans), MBOU Gymnasium No. 3 Korolev city (2310 plastic bottles and 1008 aluminum cans) and MBOU Secondary school No. 8 Balashikha city (2753 plastic bottles and 563 aluminum cans).
